Church Profile

The morning and evening worship services at Grace Church are traditional, reverent, and warm. The morning service begins at 11:00 a.m. following Sunday school classes, which begin at 9:45 a.m. The worship service is led by the pastor. One of the elders on a rotating basis also reads a portion of scripture and leads the congregation in a prayer of confession. Congregational singing is most often from the Trinity Hymnal but sometimes includes Psalter selections, both with piano accompaniment. There is a strong emphasis on God's speaking to His people and our response to Him. The service normally runs about ninety minutes, and half of that time is normally devoted to the sermon. The Lord's Supper is celebrated twice per month, once in the morning and once in the evening service.

Evening worship begins at 6:00 p.m. and, while best described as traditional, is less structured than the morning service. The evening service normally includes a time for prayer requests from the congregation, which is then led in prayer by the pastor. Singing is predominantly from the Psalter but the Trinity Hymnal is also used, again both with piano accompaniment.

A small choir is periodically assembled for special music as are other individual musical selections presented either individually or by small groups.

Large numbers of members regularly remain after the service for thirty or more minutes to welcome visitors and to fellowship with one another.

Typical attendance at the morning service is about 200, or approximately 60 families. The members are derived from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
